On January 23, Taglyan Cultural Complex welcomed the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for the Chamber’s annual State of Hollywood address. City Councilman Mitch O’Farrell of Council District 13, attending for the first time, was recognized by the Chamber with a star plaque at the event, presented by the Hollywood Museum and Variety.
O’Farrell began his speech by greeting the crowd and expressing gratitude to the community for selecting him as the honoree and to his long-term partner for supporting his career in public service. He went on the speak about Hollywood’s unique profile and culture, the opportunities and one-of-a-kind experiences he found in his arrival in the city 32 years prior, and community members before him who contributed to revitalizing and enriching the iconic neighborhood.
In his strongly team-oriented address, O’Farrell went on to recognize that “There were certainly those that had given up on Hollywood but there were plenty who hadn’t.[…] It is not lost on me that the legions, who toil daily to make this community better, and have done so for years, do so while no one is looking. That includes most of the good people in this room and I hope all of you can take some satisfaction in knowing you are making an enormous difference in the lives of everyone who lives, works, or visits Hollywood.”
Other notable attendees included Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Chair Heather Cochran, Variety magazine publisher Michelle Sobrino-Stearns, and Hollywood Museum founder Donelle Dadigan.
