Hollywood Central Park Project Continues to Garner Community Support

Many of you asked us to speak further on a recent blog posting about the “For Love of Hollywood Gala” hosted by Taglyan Cultural Complex in early January. The event was created to raise awareness and money for the Friends of Hollywood Central Park. This group is diligently working to raise finances and reach the community regarding a newly proposed Hollywood Central Park.

The initial design will cover a portion of Hollywood Freeway (US 101) with a 44-acre street level community park. Hollywood is in desperate need of such a service, which would allow children to play freely in the afternoon sunshine. The location is within one mile of over 180,000 residents, including 40,000 children.

Additionally, the project would reinvigorate the local economy by creating over 4,000 jobs in the coming 10 years. Such a significant community boost cannot be ignored, which is why the California Supreme Court is finalizing details, like Environmental Impact Report funding, before construction can begin.

Staff and ownership of Taglyan Cultural Complex have been onboard with the idea since day one. We serve as sponsors for the Friends of Hollywood Central Park and have hosted the first two events in January 2011 and 2012. The next scheduled banquet will be in January 2013 at Taglyan Complex. With celebrities, politicians, and important community figures in attendance, it is sure to be a success.
